Mieke: Ah, dat gaat over MijnOverheid. Dat is een belangrijk onderwerp voor het KNM-examen.

Bram: MijnOverheid? Wat is dat precies?
MijnOverheid? What exactly is that?
Mieke: Dat is een website van de Nederlandse overheid. Je hebt ook een app voor je telefoon.
That's a website of the Dutch government. You also have an app for your phone.
Bram: Oké, een website en een app. En wat doe ik daar?
Okay, a website and an app. And what do I do there?
Mieke: Daar vind je jouw persoonlijke gegevens. Bijvoorbeeld je adres. Of je BSN.
There you'll find your personal data. For example, your address. Or your BSN.
Bram: Ah, dus de overheid heeft al mijn gegevens. En verder?
Ah, so the government already has all my data. And what else?
Mieke: Je krijgt er ook digitale post.
You also receive digital mail there.
Bram: Digitale post? Dus geen papieren brief meer in de brievenbus?
Digital mail? So no more paper letters in the mailbox?
Mieke: Precies. De post komt niet thuis. De post komt op de website.
Exactly. The mail doesn't come home. The mail comes on the website.
Bram: En waar staat die post dan?
And where is that mail then?
Mieke: Die staat in de Berichtenbox. Dat is een soort digitale postbus. Heel veilig.
It's in the Berichtenbox. That's a kind of digital mailbox. Very secure.
Bram: De Berichtenbox. Dat is een handig woord. Van wie krijg ik daar een bericht?

Mieke: Bijvoorbeeld van de Belastingdienst. Of van de gemeente. Of van het UWV.
For example, from the Tax Authorities. Or from the municipality. Or from the UWV.
Bram: Ah ja, de belangrijke dingen dus. Ik moet die Berichtenbox dus goed controleren.

Mieke: Heel goed. Je krijgt een e-mail als er een nieuw bericht is. Maar het is slim om zelf ook te kijken.

Mieke: Ten eerste: de overheid. Dat is de regering. Ten tweede: de Berichtenbox. Dat is je digitale postbus. En ten derde: digitaal. Dat betekent: op de computer.
Firstly: the government. That is the administration. Secondly: the Berichtenbox. That is your digital mailbox. And thirdly: digital. That means: on the computer.
Bram: Duidelijk. De overheid, de Berichtenbox, digitaal.

Mieke: Een tip voor het examen. Je krijgt vaak een vraag over de Belastingdienst.
A tip for the exam. You often get a question about the Tax Authorities.
Bram: Ja?

Mieke: De vraag is dan: 'Waar vind je digitale post van de Belastingdienst?' Het antwoord is altijd: 'In de Berichtenbox'.
The question is then: 'Where do you find digital mail from the Tax Authorities?' The answer is always: 'In the Berichtenbox'.
